Sens le Silence
07/12/2006
On Tuesday 28th November, the Arts Association, whose leaders are Audrey Cella and Samuel Sebban, presented its first musical production “Sens le Silence”. The show took place in a Theatre in Pau town centre with a packed out audience of 400 people.
Interview Audrey Cella

Samuel had wanted to create a musical for some time and in September he came across the theme of AIDS. A lot of people were interested in the musical organisation and we had two casting auditions: one for the singers and one for the dancers.
We created this show in less than two months; Samuel was in charge of the songs, everybody was in charge of the production, Aurélie Roussée did the choreography and I was responsible for the communication and administration aspects. Due to time restrictions we only found a few sponsors such as Auchan, Winfield, Imprimerie Moderne, Chabbert amongst others.
It was a wonderful experience and we have a lot of positive reactions from the school and also from the press. Present at the show were some members of the audience who have been affected by the disease and were very touched by our production performance.

Interview Samuel Sebban

« Sens le Silence », was my second musical. The first one was called « Cassandre », it was based on Greek mythology and I was just 16. In my opinion, « Sens le silence » was better than « Cassandre » because we had to do everything ourselves.
In order to create this show it was important to communicate and listen to each other as we only had limited time in order for it to be ready for the “World AIDS Day”.
In order to compose the songs, I spoke with people who have been diagnosed as HIV positive and I consulted specialised magazines, I wanted to have a variety of music because the theme is so powerful.
We have prepared a CD and a DVD which I am very proud of as we are not professionals but we were still able to make a success of it.
I would like to work in an artistic field in the future and I think that ESC is a good way to succeed in because I believe that an artist is a product that has to be sold.

What is the next project of the Association of Arts ?
Samuel is trying to copyright his songs before selling the DVDs and CDs. And the Arts Association may do this show again in the future.
