Fiona, Georges and Jessica are the new trainees
in the Corporate Language Training Centre. They’ve come
over from England where they are studying in different universities.
They are doing their training in the ESC Pau Group in order to
improve their French. We interviewed them when they arrived.

Where are you studying ?
Fiona: I’m studying French
and History in Manchester University.
Georges: I’m studying French in Aston University in
Birmingham.
Jessica: I’m a student of Economics and French in Leeds.
You arrived last week-end: What are your first feelings toward France?
Georges: We have all been to France, but
I realised this time that France is a big country. Pau is a beautiful
town.
Fiona: I’ve only been to France once and Pau is bigger
than my town. I was surprised to find so many shops here!
Jessica: I arrived in France last week. I spent one week
on holiday with my parents in ‘Bastide Clairence’, one
of the most beautiful villages in France. I visited Pau when I was
seventeen, and the only place I remember is the station…
What sort of job do you have in our Group?
We are part of the Corporate Language Training Centre.
Our mission is to talk with all the clients of the different programmes.
So, we give conversation classes, answer the phone, and we also
go to lunches in order to help our clients learn English quicker.
What do you think about the working conditions?
We just arrived but so far everybody here has been
very friendly.
What do you want to do after your studies?
Fiona: I want to do translations and live in France.
Jessica: I would like to live in Spain because it’s
a great country. I speak a little Spanish, and I have spent two
months in Madrid.
Georges: I do not have a precise idea, but I was thinking
about working for the police, in customs.
What are your hobbies ?
Georges: I love to swim, and I’m qualified as a swimming
teacher.
Fiona: I love to draw, and also to spend time with friends,
to go out, and wine tasting.
Jessica: I go scuba diving, and I also like cinema and
going out.
