   Here is the list of documents you must submit to the Prefecture to obtain a resident's permit (please make sure that you get some of them before your departure):
   * your passport containing a long-term visa as well as a photocopy of each written or stamped page,
   * 3 passport-sized identity photographs,
   * an original birth certificate (if possible in French or an international one) as well as a photocopy. If your birth certificate is written in English you will have to submit a French version translated by an expert translator which may cost you 15 to 30 euros...
